Discovery of a very important document
about the Suryoyo population (1870) in Turkey

I possess a copy of a very important document about the Suryoyo population from the year 1870 AD under the Ottoman empire in Turkey.

Monk Abdallah Saddadi (the late Patriarch of Antioch) visited in 1870 the cities and villages of the province Diyarbakir (Southeast) and collected the names of the families, the villages and places.

In the document there were registered in Garshuni and Syriac more than 230 villages in the province Diyarbakir (including Tur Abdin) with Suryoyo inhabitants. He registered the name of the family head and the number of residents in every village.

This document is very important to know and find out, how many Suryoye lived in 1870 in Turkey and how many were massacred in 1895 and 1914/15 by the Turks and Kurds.
